Good morning, Mission Hill! Today is Monday May 8, an odd period day.

Announcements:

Attn All Students--and especially 8th graders.  Have you lost a book that needs to be paid for?  Now is the time to pay for your lost book or arrange a work trade in the library.  Don’t delay.  Now is the time to deal with it.  See us in the library today.

The Fierce Reads Spring Tour 2017 is coming to Bookshop Santa Cruz! This year the tour features four fierce YA authors, some you may know but others that are new to the game.  It’s free and on May 11th at 7pm.

20 MHMS student will have their work displayed in a professional gallery show. Congratulations! Their work is for sale and there is an opening reception this Friday night from 5pm-9pm as part of the First Friday festivities downtown at the Felix Kulpa Gallery.

If you missed the online yearbook order deadline you may still purchase a yearbook with cash or check. The cost is $30 and order envelopes are in the office. Please make checks out to Mission Hill Middle School..

Hey Mission Hill, if you would like to be a Million Word Reader and have your picture taken for the yearbook, please get your million words in and your RC quizzes taken by April 12.  Ask Ms. Dyer for details.

Spirit Week next week, specifics in a few minutes>

Come up to the library today at lunch for the 1st Annual Book Mark Creation Contest.  Three impartial judges will choose the most interesting bookmark and the prizes will look something like this.

Don't miss out! Online yearbook sales are now open. The cost is $30 per book. Last year the yearbooks sold out, be sure to reserve yours by ordering early.

Pennies for Patients - If you brought your money and box in yesterday, great.  If not, then get it to room 7. We will be sending the funds of to Pennies for Patients next week, so that it can be used for cancer research and patient family support. Thank you, Student Leadership.


Teen Fashion show tickets now on sale.  Get yours from Ms. Crocetti in the art room, room 5. All proceeds go to putting on the fashion show and supporting this amazing project. Thank you in advance for your support!

Good morning, Mission Hill! Today Friday, March 10, an even period day.

Announcements:

Surf Club - will start Wed. 3/22.  Oops, sorry we missed yesterday, but we are on in two weeks.

A computer mouse disappeared from Jon’s desk yesterday sometime between lunch and afterschool.  This mouse is needed to set up a new computer.  Please let Jon know if you know anything about it or return to his desk if you know where it is.

Mission Hill Students and Teachers:  Please take a few minutes to check that the textbook you are using is the textbook that is actually checked out to you. You can look page 20 of your planner to see the barcode number of the textbook you checked out in September.

Got overdue books or books you have finished reading? Do you have a class novel you no longer need? 7th graders-have you finished your one pagers? Clean out your backpacks, lockers, and shelves at home and return your books to the library.  You’ll need to be clear of all overdue and lost books in order to attend the dance on March 17.

Correction:  Pennies for Patients - use and hold onto your collection boxes, distributed by your amazing math teachers.  They can be turned in when you are done collecting before or on Friday March 26th.  Thank you, Student Leadership.


Registration is now open for the following spring sports: Track and Field, golf, boy’s volleyball, and girl’s softball. Season begins March 27.


Thanks to a special donation from the Digital Media Foundation, there are free or complimentary tickets to community members (of all ages) to come see Quinteto Latino on tomorrow, March 11, 2017 @ 8:00pm at California State University in Monterey.  See Ms. Dyer or Ms. Latham for details.


AVID Club is still selling Crazy Creature Cookiegrams! Check out our many varieties--from llamas to unicorns and everything in between, and brighten the day of a friend, a classmate, or even that special someone. Cookiegrams will be on sale during brunch and lunch all week. They are $1 each and will be delivered next Tuesday. In order to send a cookiegram, you need to know the recipient’s 6th period teacher. Please support the AVID Club by sending a tasty cookiegram today!

Good morning, Mission Hill! Today is Tuesday, February 21, an full six period day.

Announcements:

Get signed up for the next pizza munch and bookchat-Stella by Starlight.  Get your own copy that you can keep in the library.


Please be responsible and keep your textbooks and novels out of the rain.  No one wants to read a moldy mildewy book or have to pay for a damaged book.  Hachew!


If you were in Ceramics last semester, please pick up your pieces as soon as possible! Thank you!

Good morning, Mission Hill! Today is Monday, January 30, an odd period day.

Announcements:

Today our 2 Mission Hill SC Warriors will be here during brunch to shoot some hoops with you and answer questions you have.

Book Fair is going to be here on Monday!  See the library homepage to get a preview via the online book fair.  Students!  Please bring pencils when you come to the Book Fair to write your wish lists.  

If you eat lunch in  the library, please eat outside while the Book Fair is going on.  The library is open for book browsing during the Book Fair, but not for lunch eating starting today.  Thank you.

fashionTEENS Applications now available! fashionTEENS is a fashion event open to ALL middle and high school students living in Santa Cruz County. Students design and make original outfits and then walk an elevated runway at the Civic Auditorium. The show will take place on Friday Night, April 21st.

Applications to participate are available by the Art Room Door. The applications are due by the end of the day February 10th.


Magic/Card Trick Club Meeting today at lunch in Room 2. Bring your lunch and cards. See you there!
